About Us

Elizabethtown Primary is a Title 1 school that serves approximately 500 children in Pre-Kindergarten through 4 grade.  There are caring certified and classified staff members who are committed to helping your child achieve their fullest potential. Our staff has much experience, with 100% of our certified staff members being Highly Qualified. Our goal is to work together with you to jointly nurture a love of learning in the children who attend Elizabethtown Primary School.

Education and safety receive the highest priority in all that we do and in our school community. We strive to implement best practices, integrating social and academic learning in every aspect of the school day. By teaching and reinforcing expectations, routines and our school rules, we believe students can best focus on their most important job of learning.

Children participate in enhancement classes, including art, music, physical education, media, guidance and computer skills. Computers, Ipads and SmartBoards are located in each classroom. Progress reports are sent home weekly and  also  a Bladen County Schools Progress Report:  one 15 days and 30 days into each of the nine weeks to keep you abreast of your child's progress. At EPS, we use Singapore Math along with NYEngage to teach K-4 mathematics.  We use BURST for our K-2 students to provide reading instruction to those that may not be at grade level.  We support students as readers with whole group and small group instruction using the North Carolina State Curriculum, Common Core and Essential Standards. We use Reading 3D in grades K-3 to monitor your child's progress in letter recognition, fluency and comprehension.  The students are assessed three times a year.  You will receive reports about your child's progress in the progress reports that are sent home to you.

Close home-school-community partnerships are supported by communication in the form of newsletters, homework letters, teachers' webpage, progress reports, and social media.

We strongly believe that children are most successful when parents are involved in their child’s/children’s education. We hope that through the combined efforts of home and school, your child will thirst for knowledge, skills and learning. We welcome your support and engagement and anticipate building upon your success as the initial educator as we build our “Community of Enthusiastic Learners.”
