Mrs. Kristy Smith
My name is Kristy Smith and it is an honor to serve as Principal of Elizabethtown Primary School the 2024-2025 school year. I am starting my 11th year in education.
My educational background includes an Associate Degree in Business Administration and an Associate Degree in General Education from Bladen Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and AIG licensure add-on from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. In the spring of 2024, I completed my Master’s in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. In 2013, I started my career in Bladen County Schools as a teacher assistant. In 2017, I moved into a teaching position and taught kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. In addition to teaching, I have served on various leadership teams within our district.
During the 2023-2024 school year, I served as assistant principal of Elizabethtown Primary School. I look forward to working with all stakeholders in our school community.

Ms. Glenda Matthis
I am enthusiastic to serve as the Assistant Principal at Elizabethtown Primary School. I earned an undergraduate degree in Family and Consumer Science Education from Western Carolina University and later completed a Master’s degree in School Administration from Grand Canyon University. This is my 26th year in education.
With a strong background in education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, I am focused on supporting both students and teachers to achieve their fullest potential. I am passionate about promoting instructional time effectively and recognizing the achievements of the school community.
