Mrs. Kristy Smith

Principal
Elizabethtown Primary School

My name is Kristy Smith, and I am truly honored to serve as the Principal of Elizabethtown Primary School for the 2025–2026 school year. This year marks my 12th year in education, and I am excited to continue my journey of service and leadership within Bladen County Schools.

My educational journey began at Bladen Community College, where I earned Associate Degrees in both Business Administration and General Education. I went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where I also completed my AIG licensure add-on. Most recently, I earned a Master’s degree in School Administration from UNC Pembroke in the spring of 2024.

I began my career in 2013 as a teacher assistant with Bladen County Schools. In 2017, I transitioned into a teaching role and have had the privilege of teaching kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in various leadership teams across the district, continuously seeking ways to contribute to student success and school improvement.

During the 2023–2024 school year, I proudly served as the Assistant Principal of Elizabethtown Primary School. For the 2024–2025 school year, I was honored to be appointed as the Principal of Elizabethtown Primary School. While serving in administration, I successfully completed the AP Accelerator Program, a competitive professional development opportunity I was selected for. I have also been chosen to participate in the 2025–2027 Early Career Principals Academy (ECPA)—an exciting opportunity to continue developing my leadership skills and expand my impact. I am excited to lead as principal and to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners to create a nurturing and high-achieving learning environment.

Together, I know we will make this a remarkable year for our school community.
